Hello everybody and I am back with Day 2 of the London Olympics.
We first start off with swimming. It was a great returning for US member Dana Vollmer, who completed the women’s 100m butterfly in 55.98 seconds, a world record. Michael Phelps became closer to becoming the most successful Olympian in the world by winning a silver in the men’s 400m relay. France took gold, Russia takes bronze and the heavy favorite, the Australians, are 4th.
British cyclist Elizibeth Armistead won the first medal for Great Britain by claiming silver. Netherland’s Marianne Vos claims gold after a late accelertation to bypass Russia’s Ogla Zabelinskaya, who takes bronze.
The US basketball team were confident as they win over France, 98-71. Kevin Durant leads the scoreboard with 22 points.
Kimberly Rhodes won the gold for the USA in the skeet shooting competition, and become the first American to take 5 consecutive individual-sport medals. She won a gold in Atlanta, a bronze in Sydney, a gold in Athens, and a silver in Beijing.
South Korea wins another gold in women’s archery, their seventh straight medal win since their debut 1988 in Seoul.
