Margaret Thatcher Dies at 87

On Monday, at age 87, Margaret Thatcher passed away after suffering a stroke. The world has lost a great leader. She was the last of the ‘great triumvirate’, which included her, Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II, who were determined to wipe out Communism. Her unwavering defense of freedom and the individual made her a legendary first female prime minister of Britain in 1979.

Where Did We Go Wrong? – Libya

Almost one and a half years ago, the Arab Spring had reached Libya, and Muammar Gaddafi fought to keep his long regime in line. At first the rebels seemed to be crushed by the loyalists, who had the more advanced military equipment. The loyalists had pushed back the rebels into tight corridors of territory, laying siege in Mistrata and other cities. The rebels constantly pleaded for the UN’s intervention. The UN finally agreed, and they began an air war, while supplying the rebels with the latest weapons.

London Olympics 2012: Final Day

In the final day of the Olympics, we start of with the USA vs. Spain rematch for the basketball gold. At half and 3rd Quarter, the US led by one, but in the 4th quarter the lead increased dramatically. Led by Lebron James, Kevin Durant(who is now the top scorer of all of the Olympics, and Chris Paul, they win 107-100.  This is end for Jerry Colangelo and Coach K as the cognoscenti of USA Basketball, and the 12 gold medalists return to the NBA.

London Olympics 2012: Day 15

Today, the men’s 4×100 relay finals took place. The Jamaican team of consisting of Usain Bolt and Johan Blake won the relay with a world record of 36.84 seconds. The US led halfway through, but in the 3rd and 4th legs, they were overtaken by Blake and Bolt. US settles for silver while Trinidad and Tobago took bronze after Canada was heartbreakingly disqualified for a lane violation.The women’s 4×400 relayfinals also took place, but the US won gold. The US team of DeeDee Trotter, Allyson Felix, Francena McCororyk, and Sanya Richards-Ross left no doubt, winning the gold by 3.5 seconds over Russia and Jamaica. It was Felix’s third gold medal of these Olympics. Brigetta Barrett won a silver in the women’s high jump. Anna Chicherova of Russia took the gold.
