On Saturday, Mitt Romney made his long-awaited vice presidential announcement in Norfolk, Virginia. His choice was Rep. Paul Ryan.

London Olympics 2012: Day 6
Gabby Douglas took home the gold metal in the Women’s Individual All-Around Finals. After teammate Jordyn Wieber of the USA Gymnastics team was excluded from the competition, Douglas pretty much had the floor to herself. Douglas finished first in all the events, except for the Uneven Bars and Floor. She finished 3rd and 4th respectively. Douglas’ gold metal winning score was 62.232, which is a very good score.


London Olympics 2012: Day 4
Today was a big day for the Team USA Women’s Gymnastics team, as they win gold. They had an amazing performance on all of the challenges, including vaults, balance beam, and uneven bars. The “Fab-5″, including super-vaulter McKayla Maroney slammed Team Russia in the final rotation, snagging the gold on the floor right after two disastrous performances by the Russians broke them into tears.

Michael Phelps does the unthinkable, and wins another gold, in the 4x200meter freestyle relay. He is now the most decorated and successful Olympian of all time, having 15 gold medals, 2 silvers, and 2 bronzes.

In swimming American Allison Schmitt wins gold in the 200m freestyle with a dominating lead to win. The other American, Missy Franklin, missed her third medal by taking fourth. Chinese teen sensation Ye Shiwen was questioned for doping. She recently broke the world record in the 400 individual medley, and broke her own record to take the 200 IM, claiming two gold medals. The head of the American Swimming Coaches Association was suspicious, but the Olympic organizers defended her, and Shiwen said:’Absolutely not’.
London Olympics 2012: Day 3
Hello everybody and welcome the the Day 3 recap.
American swimmer Missy Franklin won the woman’s 100 meters backstroke. 13 minutes before she had just qualified in the 200 meters freestyle semifinals. A couple miniutes later, American swimmer Matt Greaver takes gold in the 100meter backstroke. Another American, Nick Thoman takes silver, making it a 1-2 win. However Ryan Lochte finished with a disappointing 4th place in the 200 freestyle, which was one byFrance’s Yannick Agnel.

The Chinese men’s gymnastic team win their second straight gold, after a dismal performance in the qualification. Great Britain would take silver.

In tennis, the Williams sisters each advance in the singles round, and teamed together for a doubles win. Other major players have Roger Federer, Lleyton Hewitt, Victoria Azarenka, Kim Clijsters, Petra Kvitova, Ana Ivanovic and three-time Wimbledon runner-up Andy Roddick.

Today is Flag Day. It is a day to show pride as Americans in our nation’s beautiful flag. Since 1949, all presidents have signed proclamations encouraging Americans to fly the flag proudly each year on Flag Day.

On September 17, 1862, the North and South clashed once more in a bloody conflict, this time on Northern soil. Antietam yielded 22,717 casualties, including 3,654 killed, and went down in history as the bloodiest day in the Civil War.
